There is no question Obama showed up to debate last night
and was much more aggressive than he was
during his first debate with Governor Romney. But did he overdo it?
I’m sure his Democrat base doesn’t think so, but the initial reaction from focus groups seems to be that he did.

Women particularly were turned off by the fisticuffs, but most guys, like me, loved it, apparently..
A focus group of undecided voters in the swing state of Colorado , conducted on
Fox by GOP polster, Dr Frank Luntz, felt that Obama came across as defensive
and that Romney was more presidential and thus the overwhelming winner, and many had voted for Obama in
2008.
The moderator, Candy Crowley of CNN appeared to be running interference for the Obama camp by allowing Obama more time to answer questions and cutting Romney off at the pass whenever he seemed to be gathering steam. In fact Crowley interrupted Romney 28 times while doing the same to Obama only 9 times. .
Most arm chair quarterbacks of the conservative persuasion this morning are convinced that Romney missed an opportunity to hang OBama out to dry on that question, but was thrown off his game by Crowley, who quickly put the matter to rest. . Crowley has since admitted Romney was correct in questioning Obama's veracity on that startling statement that seemed to cause an immediate reaction on Twitter at the same time as I was picking myself back up off the floor.
Still the door remains open for some uncomfortable questioning of the administration's actions or lack of actions during the 14 days following the Sept 11th incident throughout the remainder of the week, as well as in the next debate which will focus on foreign affairs.
Here's a thought. With reports surfacing that the Al Quaida operatives behind the attack have been identified, I wonder if we can expect a US Military attack on the perpetrators this week strategically planned before the next debate on Monday eveing.
Ouch! What a thought.
Nah...they wouldn't play politics like that with human lives in our Military at risk would they? Answer: With this bunch calling shots in the White House, it's all about politics, so you better believe it. And right now with the polls trending towards Romney, I have no doubt that they are getting desperate.
Anyway, back to the debate.
All in all it was real rumble and both men seemed determined not to back down. How this played to the public at large is not clear yet, but both bases seemed appreciative with the efforts generally.
Another observation: The town hall format certainly turned out to be more volatile than anyone had expected, and the result was one of the most memorable and riveting debate battles in history, or atleast that I ever recall seeing in my lifetime, and at age 64 I've seen alot of them now..
