Press Release from the Campaign of Dr David
Steinhof, Candidate for Congress from the MA 4th Congressional
District
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FALL RIVER… On Friday, GOP contender for US Congress in the 4th Massachusetts district, Dr. David Steinhof, published an open letter, asking why his opponent, Sean Bielat of New York, won’t agree to debates.
In an article published in the Attleboro-Seekonk Patch, the Bielat campaign responded to the question by suggesting it was not their campaign, but rather Elizabeth Childs who was preventing debates from happening between David Steinhof and his two opponents for the GOP nomination. "We have received several debate invitations over this month that were initiated by the Childs campaign, but only included our campaign and hers, but we have always insisted that all three Republican candidates who made the ballot should be invited to participate in all debates," [Communications director Sarah] Rumpf wrote in an email to Patch.
Who on Beth Childs' team has demanded to exclude David Steinhof as a prerequisite to debate? It’s time to name names. Sarah Rumph, a high-priced hired gun from Florida, has some explaining to do. Accusing the Childs campaign (and, earlier in this same article, we at the Steinhof campaign) of underhanded dealings casts a pall over the whole Republican Party. We believe she owes it to the press, the Childs campaign so indicted, and to the voters of the 4th District to defend her comments.
Additionally, Ms. Rumph indicts various Republican Town Committees and other civic organizations, who have expressed their interest in a three-way debate, for kowtowing to demands that have allegedly been made by the Childs campaign.
