Catholic Priest Speaks Out Against Attacks on Religious Freedom and Socialism at Colorado GOP Convention

Although these brief remarks to the 2012 Colorado Assembly were given by a Catholic Priest, you don’t have to be Catholic to appreciate their wisdom. After leading thousands of delegates at the State Republican Convention at the University of Denver on May 12, 2012 in the opening prayer, FR Andrew Kemberling, Paster at the St Thomas More Catholic Parish in Denver, said that the moral challenges facing our country are not caused by political affiliation, but rather by attacks on religious freedom and challenged all “people of conscience" to fight in defense of our constitutionally guaranteed rights to religious freedom.

“The Church has rejected the totalitarianism and atheistic ideologies  associated in modern times with  communism and socialism”

He then went on to accuse socialists of wanting to deprive us of  the fundamental rights associated with democracy ie “personal conscience choice” and “ownership of private property”

He also went on to accuse the advocates of socialist policies of not understanding the “natural law” that is referred to in the Declaration of Independence including the inalienable rights of life. liberty and the pursuit of happiness which are "endowed by our creator"

He closed his remarks which took most of the attendees by surprise and caused quite a stir,  as well as some unexpected rousing applause a couple of times from the delegates. "I am tired of this experiment with socialism", he shouted and if persecution occurs, "Catholics will be ready"  he declared followed by "Let Freedom Ring" to more applause.
