Bielat's Troubled Voting Record

Bielat has a serious problem. A problem that, as a candidate for high office, is insurmountable.

Candidate Bielat, 2010, made statements about his voting record that are just not true. He lied to the voters of Massachusetts, and you can bet the Democrats will hammer him on it if he makes it to the general election!

In 2010, Bielat claimed that even though he was always a registered Democrat, he voted for Republicans from time to time. This is simply not true. A search conducted with the New York Secretary of State's Office concluded that Sean Bielat had never voted for a Republican in the primary before coming to Massachusetts - and voting for himself!

In fact, even after coming to Massachusetts and registering in Brookline, the only Republican candidate he voted for was himself. Not Scott Brown, not Charlie Baker.

Just Sean Bielat.

This lack of voting history, and the lies he's told about it is a serious issue if you intend to take down a Kennedy in Massachusetts. It's just as serious to lie to the people of the Commonwealth. Rewarding a liar with a seat in Congress isn't something Republicans are willing to do.

Lying to your new neighbors is what you do when you swoop into a new state and you have something to hide. What else is Sean Bielat hiding?

The Democrats brought this up last time around and crippled Bielat in the Boston market, where he would potentially be strong. It will come up again. We can't make the same mistake we made in 2010. We cannot choose someone to represent the party with such a thin voting record, obfuscated by outright lies.

We cannot vote for someone we do not trust to work in our interests and against Obama's. And we cannot vote for someone we can't trust just because he's the best-known candidate.

He's well-known for losing to Barney Frank!

And in the general election, people won't vote for someone they can't trust. You can bet Kennedy and the Democrats, with their million-dollar-plus war chest, will make sure the Commonwealth doesn't trust Bielat come November.

It's time to nominate someone with a clean slate, a respectable voting record, and a real understanding of the Commonwealth and thepeople of the 4th District to fight and to take the seat back here in the 4th Congressional District.

  1. Before you call someone a liar, you should check the facts. It's as easy as calling the Brookline Town Clerk. If you do, you will find out that you are wrong. If that's not true, please post a copy of the voting record that the Town Clerk released to you.

Also, how would you know who he voted for? Can you prove he didn't vote for Baker or Brown?

    Thanks.

    1. The scarcity of his Massachusetts voting record is well documented and was used by Barney Frank to his advantage during the 2010 general election campaign.. I noticed you had no comment to make regarding the search conducted with the New York Secretary of State’s Office which showed he had never voted for a Republican in the Primary. The best way to determine party loyalty is to determine a candidates primary voting record, as well as his record of campaign donations, except maybe in Massachusetts where we learned last year during the selection process for a new Chairman that might not necessarily be the case, but I'm trying to get passed that, as difficult as it is.(Sorry Chairman Maginn) Of course there might be instances when one choose not to vote on a matter of principle as many true conservatives do from time to time, on the issue of abortion, which I don’t object to. In the case of Sean Bielat, however, I’m pretty sure that wasn't his motivation for not voting for Republicans in a primary election, but that really isn’t anyone’s business unless they’re running for office. Wait a minute, he is running for office. Oh man!.

    2. The voter record from the town of Brookline is now posted at the end of the post for Bielat, Sean Voter ID 05BSN1475003. It clealy shows that he did not vote in the State Election on 11/04/2008, nor did he vote in the Local Election on 5/3/2011. I received this as a PDF file the day you requested me to do so, but I was unable to figure out how to handle the PDF file until now, via a simple screenshot (ha ha). Sorry I took so long. Oh anytime you or someone else in the Bielat campaign wishes to apologize for calling me a lier I'll be waiting

  2. It's easy to pull voting records at City Hall. If he didn't vote in a particular election, then you know he didn't vote for any candidate in that election.

  3. Dear “Doubting Anonymous”…I just received a copy of his voting record which confirms the info in the following two posts which has been common knowledge for some time. (http://blogs.wickedlocal.com/masspolitics/2010/10/13/sean-bielat-not-interested-in-discussing-voting-record/#axzz1wXx19kIR), and (http://blogs.wickedlocal.com/masspolitics/2010/09/13/4th-congressional-republican-bielat-fibs-about-his-voting-record/#axzz1wXx19kIR)
“Bielat did not vote in any of Brookline’s town elections in 2008, 2009, or 2010, nor in the 2008 state primary, according to the Brookline town clerk.” In another post entitled “According to an overview of data from both Brookline and New York, Bielat failed to vote in five of the eight elections he had an opportunity to vote in, both as a registered Democrat and Republican, since 2005. This lack of involvement in the process goes against comments he made in August suggesting that he had been an active supporter of Republicans at the ballot box while being a registered Democrat”.
Additionally the scan of his voting record I have in my possession shows very clearly he did not vote in 2008 or 2011. Thanks to you I now have more data on Bielat than I had before and am looking forward to writing an even more detailed account in the future…Thanks Tom

  4. His voting records in Brookline show he didn't vote in 2008 and 2010. This guy's has always had a problem answering questions. He wouldn't even debate his opponent the last time. Read the article below.
