Well it looks like the verdict is in . The war is over, and
conservatives have lost in the fight to nominate a true conservative to replace Barack Obama.. At least that is what the media, the polls and our beloved establishment consultants are all saying. Mitt Romney is the One.
But wait a minute, I'm thinking, I thought we conservatives were dedicated
to voting our values. I know that is the purpose of one of my favorite web sites, Vote Core Values here in Massachusetts and that is not just because I will soon be writing a column there, hopefully, but it's because true conservatives are people of principle.
Those of us who are also Christians, regardless of denomination, also believe that some day we will have to stand before God and account for what we did here on earth, not for the purpose of salvation, but for how we represented our Lord and saw to it that His will was carried out here on earth as it is in heaven, particularly on moral issues that affect our culture. In the book of Genesis before the fall of man, we were all commanded to be "fruitfil and multiply and to subdue the earth, which implies the creation and control of our culture, atleast that is my opinion. There is no way I can support representatives who subvert God's will in their policies and I'm talking specifically about abortion and homosexual activism in our schools and communities. The very act itself is advancing a religion or set of moral beliefs that is contrary to the beliefs of the majority of citizens in this country who for the most part are conservatives whether they know it or not, atleast in the way they live their lives.

Then why are we ready to throw in the towel in this election? There are still
two republican candidates left, and I think the supporters of both Ron Paul and Newt
Gingrich need to take advantage of the time left before going to Tampa to make a case for
their candidates.
I mean...why are we allowing the media, the pollsters, and the left
to select our candidate once again?
I believe in my heart, there is still time to find the
strength in character and strong moral purpose to go to Tampa and tear things up. A brokered
convention that nominates either Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul is the only solution
at this point, and to be truthful I'm leaning toward's Newt, but first I’d like to review how I arrived at this point in my
thinking, at the risk of coming across as a hopeless narcissist.
So what do we have here? The last man standing, according to the experts, is indeed the moderate, politically correct, former one term governor of the most liberal state in the country, who has taken every position under the sun on every issue imaginable in a fairly short time span and would never think of offending a sitting President, never mind the first African American president, by referring to him as a socialist/marxist, even if he is one.
No, not our Mitt, (I wasn't done yet) ... he saves his name calling for fellow Republicans in expensive nasty personal attack ads filled with lies and distortions about his opponent's record, particularly when they're a social conservative and they begin to challenge his frontrunner status. Oh well, you know what George H. W. Bush use to say about politics not being beanbag. By the way, what's a beanbag?
Anyway the process has come to a close, atleast that is what we're being told, and once again conservatives have no choice but to vote for a moderate, who seems articulate enough during his interviews but doesn't seem to be willing to go for the jugular and empty his heart of the same kind of frustrations and outrage that led common citizens, veterans, and grandmothers to attend town meetings and tea party rallys in a peaceful uproar in 2010 and plead for a stop to the madness and endless spending that they feared would soon bring America to its knees.
I understand the anger and frustration better than ever now. I felt it too, which is why I started the Jazz Patriot blog down here on theMassachusetts South Coast where it gets lonely being a conservative republican sometimes, especially a social conservative.
Actually I don't like the term social conservative. The issues that concern so called "social conservatives" are really moral issues. If you have a problem with my view towards the mindless slaughter of babies or homosexual behavior/gay marriage etc take it up with God, not me. He is the one that considers such things sinful and even an abomination in the case of homosexuality. All I try to do in my imperfect way is live my life by faith and obedience and trust in the Word of God.
If you don't like what God has to say in His Word, then you'll have the opportunity to discuss it with him some day when you stand before him at the White Throne Judgement, if you haven't accepted and believed sincerely in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins and was raised from the dead for you before then. And good luck with that. I hope you don't plan on calling Him an intolerant bigot, gay basher, or a social dinosaur, because it won't help matters at that point.
Anyway just because the tantrum I've been throwing since Santorum withdrew from the race has subsided somewhat doesn't mean I've overcome the frustrations of being a conservative in the GOP today, especially the MA GOP. (By the way I hadn't committed myself to either Santorum or Gingrich and in fact had contributed to both campaigns, as well as Bachman's and Cain's.) Let's see, I'm talking about the frustration of being a conservative.
I mean...where is the Republican politician these days that can even remotely express himself and stay on point the way Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or Mark Levin can leaving liberals unable to dispute the truth and with no recourse but to attack the source with insulting retorts of a personal nature rather than to engage in an intelligent discussion of ideas. And the only real spokesmen we have are our elected representatives.
And I don't even want to mention the fact that during his tenure inMassachusetts Governor Romney was all over the board on social issues, excuse me moral issues, doing everything he could to help the powerful homosexual lobby promote their agenda, even nominating gay/lesbian judges with known anti-family agendas. His big government health care bill is said to be the model for “ObamaCare" on a smaller scale but with no less devastating results at the state level.
I hope I'm wrong about this guy. He seems likable, intelligent, competent as a businessman, and seems to have a great marriage and family. I mean it's not like he has a progressive record and a bad habit of changing his positions on the issues or being so ambitious, he'll say anything you want to hear...NOT! And it's not like he has this thing against social conservatives. (There is that word again) Oh no...not Mitt.
Well...Just take a look at the handpicked Romneyites that still run the MA GOP starting with Bob Maginn who we learned is an equal opportunity campaign contributor, regardless of political party. Just ask some of his grateful admirers like Senator Chucky Schumer of New York, who received $1200 from Maginn, the future leader of the MA GOP; and our own democrat governor, Deval Patrick, who received $500 from "Bribing Bob" while running against the GOP nominee, Charlie Baker in 2010. What a guy! This is Romney's man on the spot, selected to deliver the MA GOP into the promised land of electoral bliss and he has a history of donating money to Democrats and bribing state committee members with dinners and free web pages when he needs their vote. Is this how Romney's people intend to get their agenda passed in Congress, through bribing other congressmen?.
A long time business associate of Romney, Maginn still has other Romneyites to talk to when discussing who to bribe next after the entrenched establishment candidate for Vice Chairman, Jeanne Kangas was narrowly relected last week over her conservative opponent, Steve Aylward. Although the election was close and the conservatives came close to pulling off a remarkable upset, the entrenched remnant of Romney supporters that now exist to make life a living hell for the 21 new conservative members on the State Committee managed to hang on to their threshold of power by the skin of their teeth.
As Rick Santorum said in his withdrawal speech this week, "the work isn't finished yet", and that's true for the advancement of conservatism in the MA GOP as well, but it's certainly a good start. At least we can hold our head up high with other conservatives around the country who are continuing to challenge RINOs and moderates who insist on running the grand old party into the ground.
If Romney doesn't get the message that America is mainly a Conservative Country and the Tea Party and Social Conservatives are here to stay, he will before he moves into his new surroundings, God willing, because conservatives aren't going anywhere either in Massachusetts or the other "49" states that Obama will soon be relinquishing control over. That's right Mr President, they're are 50 states.
And while I'm thinking of it, what kind of an American President would make an unconscious slip of the tongue and refer to the 57 Islamic states instead of the 50 American states. That must have been ingrained in him from his youth the way I learned about the names of all the states in the United States of America in the fifth grade as well as the names of the state capitols. Of course I didn't go to school in an Islamic madrasa, and I sure hope our president didn't either, but how do we know for sure. We all fumble with our words at times, but this slip of the tongue was very telling about our President. Why was this man not vetted more thoroughly by the media? Why are those that make a simple request about his birthplace and authenticity of his birth certificate made to appear as idiots when ensuring that the only requirement to be President of theUnited States is fulfilled beyond a shadow of a doubt?
Before closing friends, did you hear about the meeting Romney had with Rush Limbaugh recently? Apparently he convinced Rush he would be far more conservative than anyone is expecting while he cuts and slashes his way to Mount Rushmore, rebuilding the military and saving the country along the way from sharing the same fate as Greece and other European countries in financial ruin. If that happens I'll gladly wipe the egg off my face and apologize for my cynicism.
He also told Rush, that he really believes he'll only be a one term president for what he plans to do with his pencil starting on his first day in office. And that is probably true, if he is being honest, as I can only imagine the kind of demonization and hostility he would receive from the media and congressional democrats if he actually began making real responsible cuts without all the smoke and mirrors we're use to seeing in Democrat budget proposals.
First, however, he has to get elected, but "not to worry friends". Don't listen to the state run media or pay attention to the polls. The American people aren't stupid. They're hurting right now. They still have to purchase gasoline and food products. Obama's ineptitude is the one thing we have going for us.
I mean...this election was always going to be about Barack Obama's disastrous first term in office, his socialist agenda and his gross mismanagement of the economy, no matter who ran against him, and I don't see that changing one bit down the stretch, no matter how divisive he becomes during his desperate attempt to save his presidency.
The only question is which Mitt Romney are we going to get if he does win the election. The one who turned the Olympics into a prosperous venture or the one that created a big government health care system, raised taxes, disregarded the concerns of social conservatives, and boasted about being to the left of Teddy Kennedy. I can't wait to find out, but as long as the next President is not Barack Obama we still have a fighting chance, I was thinking last week.

My reasoning at the time was simply that Mitt Romney was not Barack Obama. Did you hear me? I think that’s it.
MITT ROMNEY WAS NOT BARACK OBAMA! Wow, what a revelation I thought.
.
MITT ROMNEY IS NOT A COMMUNIST!
So there it was: Mitt Romney might be a lot of things I wished he weren't and he might not be a lot of things I wished he were and some of those things might be true and some might not be (Are you still following me?) but I said it again:
MITT ROMNEY WAS NOT BARACK OBAMA AND MITT ROMNEY WAS NOT A COMMUNIST.
Hey it was something! And was it not important? Apparently Glen Beck thought so, and I loved Glen Beck, but why did I feel so uncomfortable?. Was I still having a tantrum? Perhaps, but maybe there was another solution that could give me a little more peace of mind, as well as bring and end to this endless yawning I've endured ever since I came to grips with the idea that Romney was on his way to obtaining the nomination.
But wait, we still have the option of going to Tampa and I came to that conclusion only yesterday Aprill 21, 2012 after reading an article by Tamara Heater entitled "I Want The Arch Enemy of the Left In the White House Period", where she made a convincing case for Newt Gingrich, calling for a brokered convention.
So as I stated in the first paragraph I haven't crossed that out yet as a viable option, after all the future of America is at stake and I'm not ready to take a knife to a gunfight, as Tamara said so eloquently in her post, which is what I feel we will be doing if Mitt Romney is our nominee? And why do I feel that way, you ask?.
Well Mitt Romney is not the man of strength, moral courage, and character I'm looking for. Come on...be honest, he's a major flip flopper, on the issues. He'll say what ever he thinks you want to hear, as most politicians do to a certain extent, but not like Mitt. Even his meeting with Rush Limbaugh sounds suspect to me.
As I continue to think this through, I think it really may be time to take another look at Newt Gingrich.
At the Free Republic Web Site where I discovered the provocative article, I left a comment where I said basically that it's too late and that Romney has the nomination locked up. A blogger named "No" responded:
Not if there's a floor fight. Not if delegates vote their consciences. Not if delegates really come to terms with the fact that this is for the existence of the Republic, the United States of America.
Wow, I thought, all I can say to “NO” is “Yes”, I agree, which is why I came out for Newt in the beginning of this piece, which has even surprised me during the last couple of days. And if you are not completely satisfied with Romney as your candidate you might consider my postition as well. Tampa, here we come!
